Jb at ABC Newcastle Studios
A little bit tired from the 13 hour drive, trying to decide what to do so that we don’t get in our host’s (the lovely and talented Zoe K) way. Luckily Ben has brought his wireless modem so we each mooch round on the net.

We have a interview/ live performance on Carol Duncan's ABC Newcastle afternoon show. Decided which song to do, quick warm up then we’re out the house. Bloody windy still.

Arrive at the ABC studio, Carol Duncan is sick, Ben (producer) informs us that Craig Hamilton is filling in for Carol. He’s thrilled to see us, or rather to see Cat. Interview time, Cat is smiles as she hand balls her questions to me, so I don’t feel left out. “Craig was very smitted with the band”, quips Ben (producer) when we leave. When we arrive back at Zoe’s to pick up Mr Franz, he has a big grin on his face, “great interview guys, the guy really liked Cat…”

A little later, we pick up a chirpy Edmondo from the airport, the rest of the afternoon sees us driving around town, looking for light bulbs, for the show tomorrow in Valla.

The evening draws in and we make our way to ‘The Wicko’, the first show of our east coast tour. We played here before in July, nice room, pictures of Albert Colins, Rev Gary Davis, blues legends, feels pretty good. Some familiar faces from our July tour at the bar, oh, it’s the bar staff, of course. No free drinks for the band though, it’s my birthday today, so no free drinks for birthday boy. Ben’s a gentleman and buys me one, then attempts in the first set to introduce a happy birthday song, but I swiftly kick into the next song, Cat and Ed grinning. Everything’s pretty cruizy. Zoe K’s guitarist James arrives (who looks like he’s from Lynard Skynard) presents Ben with a fuzz pedal he made, it sounds killer.

Home for drinks and laughs. For the first gig of this east coast leg, loud and proud.
